GAA NEWS

The GAA club’s pitches and facilities remain totally closed on account of the government’s guidelines on social distancing.

But some memories are being refreshed with posting of photographs on the club’s Facebook page. One, from 1990, shows a shot of Dominic Walsh pulling on a sliotar with Séamus Canavan, a selector, in the background. The shot was taken in Wexford Park in a relegation semi-final against Glynn-Barntown. Our lads were ten points up with only fifteen minutes remaining but through indiscipline, allowed Glynn to draw level.

More draws, injuries and the introduction of younger players into the panel, saw the competition drag on until our hurlers, wearing blue and white, faced Ferns, wearing Buffer’s Alley jersies, in a final in Monamolin at the end of March 1991.
