Trials to resume in Enniscorthy dog track Monday GREYHOUNDS

-

THE I.G.B. wish to advise all greyhound owners and trainers that trialling activity will resume at I.G.B. licensed stadia as and from Monday, June 8, under strict Covid-19 precautionary measures.

These measures are in the interest of safeguarding public health, and adherence to same will ensure associated risks of Covid-19 transfer are minimised.

The full advisory document on owners’ and trainers’ protocols for attending stadia is available on the I.G.B. website.

All owners and trainers are requested to read the document carefully in advance of travelling to attend a stadium for the purposes of trialling or racing their greyhound.

For the aforementioned reasons it is imperative there is an acceptance of these measures by all, in addition to full compliance with the instructions of racing and security officials present at stadia.

Owners and trainers are requested to bring their own muzzles and trap sheets when attending an official trial session.

The full schedule of official trials at all I.G.B. licenced stadia from Monday, June 8, to Saturday, June 13, is now available.

The relevant details for Enniscorthy are as follows – Monday, June 8: 1 to 5 p.m.; 6.30 to 7 p.m.; 7 to 8 p.m. (Novices); 8 to 8.30 p.m.; Tuesday, June 9: 1 to 3 p.m.; 3 to 4 p.m. (Novices); 4 to 5 p.m.; 6.30 to 8.30 p.m.; Wednesday, June 10: 1 to 5 p.m.; 6.30 to 7.30 p.m. (Novices); 7 to 8.30 p.m.

All official trials are strictly by appointment only, and there will be no exceptions. Trials may be booked either online via the I.G.B. website or by email, text or telephone, with contact details for tracks as follows:

Owners and trainers who book official trials via email, telephone or text will receive an acknowledgement of the receipt of the official trial booking, and the time of the official trial being allocated to the owner or trainer will be confirmed by the racing office of the relevant greyhound stadium.

Owners and trainers should not assume that an official trial has been booked by sending an email, text message, or leaving a voice message.

The confirmation of the booking from the racing office must have been received following the email, text or voice message. Owners and trainers should not travel to tracks unless this confirmation has been received.

Owners and trainers should not travel to tracks if a trial has not been prebooked, as entry will be refused.

A racing manager and control steward will be present at all official trial sessions, and the greyhound’s performance in the trial is considered for grading purposes.

Due to the anticipated high level of activity at official trial sessions, all trials will be arranged by the control steward, and owners and trainers are advised that to facilitate and expedite the trial process, greyhounds will be arranged in two and three trials where possible at official trial sessions which are scheduled to take place between June 8 and 13.

As previously advised by I.G.B., greyhounds that are in receipt of the Covid-19

Greyhound Care Payment (i.e., those greyhounds which trialled or raced at an I.G.B. licenced stadium between February 11 and March 24, 2020) will be granted an official sprint/525 trial free of charge.

Raced greyhounds may re-qualify with a sprint trial, however the minimum requirement for an S.I.S. greyhound returning to race is a 525-yard trial.

Novice trials have been scheduled within the trial fixtures solely to accommodate owners and trainers who may require an accompanying greyhound to trial (the control steward will arrange for the trial to be carried out with another novice where one is available).

However, owners and trainers with novice greyhounds are not rigidly confined to these time slots.

Please note that the Board will be operating a cashless system with effect from June 8, and all payments for trials and entry fees must be made by way of debit or credit card.
