Children invited on a reading adventure

-

CHILDREN are invited to join the Summer Stars Reading Adventure starting in all County Wexford libraries on Wednesday, July 1.

To take part in the reading project, children should telephone their local library to sign up, then collect their books, activity sheets, and a Summer Stars card to record the books that they’ve read.

Library staff are offering to put together a mystery bag of fantastic books for children this summer, to help them discover new favourites.

Participating children are asked to keep a list of the books they read on their reading card and bring it back to their local library to receive their Summer Stars Certificate in September.

All you need to get started is a library card. Sign up for free at https://www.wexfordcoco.ie/libraries/join-the-library. Read one book, or as many as you like during the summer break.

Children will find free e-books and e-audio books to download on Borrowbox on the Wexford County Council Library Service website at https://www.wexfordcoco.ie/libraries/ebooks-and-eresources/. It can be fun to read and listen to a book at the same time!

A special Summer Stars section is available on Borrowbox. Just log in with your library card and password to download the app with permission from your parent or guardian.

You’ll find fun activities in the coming weeks, including messages from some of your favourite authors, interactive online challenges, readings by Wexford library staff and more.

There will be an exciting story writing competition with the title, ‘An Unexpected Adventure’.
