CHURCH NOTICE

We are delighted to announce the opening of our churches after the shut-down and to welcome back everyone for weekend Masses in Ballymore and Mayglass on July 4 and five. We ask that all respect the HSE guidelines by conforming to social distancing, using the hand sanitiser and co-operating with the ushers. There will be a one-way system into and out of the churches. Fr Byrne will explain more at the Masses as we endeavour to keep everyone as safe as possible.

THE KILLINICK PROJECT

The Killinick Project has received notification that our grant application to Wexford Local Development for two biodiversity projects in the village was successful. This is EU funding and the projects are also supported by Wexford County Council. The grants will allow us to further enhance two areas of the village. The project will allow for development of the Rosslare entrance to the village (main road).

This is in association with Mayglass school who will be involved in building some of the nature features for this area. The second area for development is the lower embankment or ‘V’ area at Ferny hill. This will be lowered and developed as a ground low planted area which will also be safer for drivers to see when entering and leaving the village.

This project will start in September and will be worked on in the autumn of 2020 and the spring of 2021. In addition to that our chairperson James Molloy has successfully received another amenity grant of €750 from Wexford County Council to help with the development of other small projects in the village.

We would like to thank Eileen Dake of Wexford local development for her help as our co-ordinator throughout the main grant process. A special thanks to our local councillors Frank Staples and Lisa McDonald for their unending assistance. We cannot forget and are so grateful to our local residents and business owners who are supporting us financially and also granting us permission to access ground areas of the village. Kiely’s Centra have contributed greatly to our projects.

James Molloy chairperson says: ‘it is very encouraging to get support and mentorship from the Wexford local development and to hear how excited they are about Killinick Village, especially given the future plans of the nearby greenway project and particularly at this time when it is important for small villages to receive good news’.

We look forward to having officials from Wexford County Council visit our village, by their request, and to further develop our continued partnership. We will keep our locality updated on an ongoing basis and if anyone wants to help or get involved in our projects, please contact Joanne at 086 3904644 for more information or email killinickproject@gmail.com.
