Frayne records a fine treble
Public welcomed back to greyhounds in Enniscorthy
THERE WAS good attendances at Enniscorthy dog track both nights last week as we all get used to going back greyhound racing.
Wexford owner Brendan Frayne recorded a fine treble, with two winners on Monday night and another on Thursday night.
Lorraine Machine got things going when taking race two in snug style, and in race eight Zalas Girl was also a ready winner.
Thursday’s success came when Sheilas Machine came home three lengths to the good in race four to complete a super week for her owner/trainer.
The opening race on Monday night was a novice unraced, and a fine performance was recorded by the Seamus Whelan-owned and trained Piercestown Ash who simply ran right away from his rivals down the back, hitting the line strongly to score by a wide margin in a fast time of 29.06 -0.30 slow.
Young owner Saoirse Kehoe from Enniscorthy enjoyed a nice double, winning races four and five on Monday night when her Tomahurra Ciara and Buddy ran nice races to improve their grades and scored handily enough in the end.
Barntown owner George Roche was on the mark yet again, recording a double on Thursday night.
His Strictly Honey just got the better of Ballinboola Mia by the minimum distance in race seven, while in race nine, Barstool Lad showed the better early gears and that proved decisive as he was always holding in pursuers in this four-runner race.
A big talking point on Thursday night was that the track was rated sand. In other words, the 0.30 slow was not applied.
