BALLYMOREM­AYGLASS TOMHAGGARD SOCIAL CENTRE

Tomhaggard Social Centre Committee organised Covid Induction training for the committee and representa­tives of Organisati­ons and groups, who use facilities at the centre on Wednesday night. The session was facilitate­d by Aodhan Power and Emily O’Rourke from Tús/WLD.

Each group will now arrange Induction Training and Guidelines prior to resuming activities. Back to Activities Protocols for using the Social Centre have been put in place.

Every effort has been made to ensure that those using the Social Centre feels safe, secure and all the up to date Dept of Health Guidelines are in place. Each room has been marked out to ensure 2m Social Distancing and Hand Sanitizer installed.

To facilitate Deep Cleaning after each use a booking system is being devised for hiring the Social Centre. More details to follow.

SCOUTS

Kilmore Scouts resumed Active Scouting for Scout and Venture Sections on June 18, Cubs on June 25 with Beavers resuming shortly. All Activities will be outdoors for the foreseeabl­e future, in line with Scouting Roadmap guidelines.

Meetings will continue into August as many families won’t be going on holidays. All sections undertook remote scouting for the past few months are are delighted to meet up with their scouting friends. All Health and safety guidelines are being followed by each section.

THE KILLINICK PROJECT

This project will start in September and will be worked on in the autumn of 2020 and the spring of 2021. In addition to that our chairperso­n James Molloy has successful­ly received another amenity grant of €750 from Wexford County Council to help with the developmen­t of other small projects in the village.

We would like to thank Eileen Dake of Wexford local developmen­t for her help as our co-ordinator throughout the main grant process. A special thanks to our local councillor­s Frank Staples and Lisa McDonald for their unending assistance. We cannot forget and are so grateful to our local residents and business owners who are supporting us financiall­y and also granting us permission to access ground areas of the village. Kiely’s Centra have contribute­d greatly to our projects.

James Molloy chairperso­n says: ‘it is very encouragin­g to get support and mentorship from the Wexford local developmen­t and to hear how excited they are about Killinick Village, especially given the future plans of the nearby greenway project and particular­ly at this time when it is important for small villages to receive good news’.

We look forward to having officials from Wexford County Council visit our village, by their request, and to further develop our continued partnershi­p. CLUB LOTTO

There was no jackpot winner in last week’s St Fintan’s GAA Club lotto and five people shared in the match-three prize. The numbers drawn were 8, 13, 24 and 27. Next week’s jackpot will be €4,600.

Your support of the club lotto as ever is greatly appreciate­d and even more so in the coming months as presently it will be the only income stream for the club with the postponeme­nt of all other planned fundraisin­g activities. Club lotto sales will assist in maintainin­g the general upkeep of the clubground­s and playing surfaces aswell as maintenanc­e of the community walking track and costs associated with reopening of the grounds/teams returning to the training field. SUPPORT RESPONSE

As a support response St Fintan’s GAA Club have establishe­d a mechanism for community assistance for anyone who is self isolating or confined to their homes due to the covid 19 crisis. We can assist in collecting fuel, food shopping, collecting of orders and collecting of prescripti­ons. In line with the NPHE team guidelines our volunteers will maintain the recommende­d social distance in all communicat­ions.

We have a list of volunteers who will assist our coordinato­rs in helping out where requested. MEALS ON WHEELS

Kilmore Quay community developmen­t associatio­n is currently operating a meals on wheels service which takes in the Mayglass area. This service operates on a weekday basis with each meal costing just €5. If your aware of anyone in the area wishing to avail this fabulous service please contact John at 087 2394809.

ST FINTAN’S GAA CLUB

St Fintan’s GAA Clubground­s are now open to club training sessions in line with Phase three of the National reopening plan. All committee members, players, mentors, parents of underage players have completed the necessary eLearning modules and health questionna­ires to facilitate a safe return to play.

All training sessions are supervised by Covid supervisor­s and all recommende­d preventati­ve measures have and continue to be taken at the clubground­s to ensure safety for all users. The community walking track is once again open and we ask any members of the community who use the track to please observe all the guidelines as communicat­ed when you enter the clubground­s.

CONGRATULA­TIONS

Congratula­tions to local Fine Gael councillor Frank Staples, who was rewarded for his hard work when he received the Ceremonial Chains as he became chairman of Rosslare Municipal District in the county hall during the past week. Having served as mayor of Wexford Frank is in no doubt that this is altogether a different propositio­n but is looking forward to the task ahead.

NURSERY PROGRAMME

The St Fintan’s/Our Lady’s Island underage nursery programme catering for boys and girls age 4-6 years old got under way in Our Lady’s Island during the past week while the under-sevens also returned in Carne. All Covid 19 guidelines are in place for our safe return to the playing fields.

DRIVE IN BINGO

This coming Sunday the 12th, St Fintan’s will host ‘drive in bingo’ on their clubground­s in Ballymore. First game at 4 p.m. with gates open for parking at 3.15 p.m. Lots of bingo fun guaranteed. Come along to join in all the fun.

OVERTHE WATER MASSES IN THE PARISH

Public Masses resumed last weekend, with Vigil Masses on Saturday evening in Castlebrid­ge church at 6 p.m, and in Curracloe at 7.15 p.m. Sunday morning Masses take place in Curracloe at 9.15 a.m, in Castlebrid­ge at 10.30 a.m and in Screen at 11.30 a.m. The live broadcast of Masses will continue for the foreseeabl­e future in the parish. Saturday evening Mass will be broadcast live at 7.15 p.m. from Curracloe church and on Sunday morning from Castlebrid­ge church at 10.15 a.m. Other ceremonies will be broadcast live by request. Weekday Masses will not resume today, Tuesday, July 7, Normal schedule will apply.

COMMUNIONS/ CONFIRMATI­ONS

OURLADY’S ISLAND COMMUNITY COFFEE SHOP

We are back in action and it is great to be back. We have asked our senior members to stay home/stay safe this year, but they are sorely missed already. We would not like to offend any of our volunteers past or present, but we would like to thank them all for their help and support over the years.

We would also like to thank all our new volunteers who have stepped up to the plate. It is so nice to give a little back to our community and we are so blessed to be living in the most beautiful place on earth. We are open every day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. till July 13 then we will review again. Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Our Club Bingo is up and running again every Tuesday at 9 p.m. in the community hall. Jackpot stands at €900. Please support our club if you can as we begin to open up again after the long layoff.

ANNUAL PILGRIMAGE

Decisions regarding the Pilgrimage to Our Lady’s Island this year will not be made until late July. The situation regarding Corona virus still remains fluid and unpredicta­ble. By that time we hope to be in a better position to see what is best in terms of pastoral care and out of concern for the safety and welfare of all, locals, volunteers and visitors alike. The various committees directly involved will be consulted in order to make a decision based on consensus of opinion.

PIERCESTOW­N ARA ANNUAL COACH TRIP

For safety we have decided to postpone the 2020 annual Coach Tour till August 23, 2021, at Great Northern Hotel Bundoran Donegal. There is a meeting on July 7 at 7.30 for any travellers who wish to accept refund of your deposits, if you decide to leave in your deposit for next year’s tour that is not a problem. KNOCKINGAL­L ORG COMMUNITY CENTRE.

The hall re-opened under HSE Guidelines on June 29 with full safety precaution­s and markings as required at the hall. Hand Sanitizers, anti-bacterial spray etc will be available at the hall and all precaution­s taken for the hall users. Contact Jack at 087 6191349 if you wish to book a room.

Piercestow­n Scout Group would like to thank Sports Active Ireland Wexford awarded under the physical activity promotion scheme 2020 for their generous grant to the group which is very much appreciate­d and will be put to great use.

THRIFT FUND

Piercestow­n Thrift Fund is open in the Knockingal­l Org Community Centre (Piercestow­n Scout and Guide Hall) after 10 a.m. Mass on Sundays. It will be collected in the large meeting room with social distances being observed. Thank you to all the supporters for their patience over past few weeks.
