NEW ROSS SENIORS

After months of lockdown, we have a new dawn breaking on Thursday, July 23. On that day, the seniors have got the go-ahead from the club Captain, Seán Furlong, albeit with a completely new set-up and abiding to a strict set of rules.

Social distancing must be strictly maintained both on and off the course. All 13 teams will play at ten-minute intervals and with no slow play.

The golfing format is as it was before, a champagne scramble, with no limit on drives, play your own ball on par threes, and two team scores counting for holes 1-18 with full club handicaps applying.

With the new markers now in operation, we play off the green or the forward ones. Due to Covid-19 guidelines, there will be no nearest the pin prizes on the par threes. This is to avoid handling the measuring flag-pole; safety first is our motto.

All players only report into the car park ten minutes before their tee-off time. The entry fee of €6 or €24 per team is to be collected by the team captain, placed in an envelope with all four names, and deposited in the box marked ‘Seniors’.

Teams and tee-times for Thursday, July 23, are as follows -

10 a.m., Denis Kirwan, Willie Whitty, Martin Burke, Dick Cahill;

10.10 a.m., Jim ‘Ross’ Ryan, Jamesie Wallace, Frank Boyle, Jamesie Murphy;

Best wishes for a speedy recovery go to our colleagues, Willie Kelly and Pat Kehoe, both of whom have been hospitalised recently.
