Good week for Dagg and Dempsey with two wins
THURSDAY TURNED out to be a lovely night for racing at Enniscorthy dog track, and a nice crowd was in attendance to enjoy some good action.
The best was saved until last when the very in-form Roanna Bess produced a super run when getting away fast from her trap five box in this four-runner affair. She was most impressive when scoring by six lengths in a best of the night 28.96.
It was her second straight win from only five starts, and she is clearly on a rapid upward curve.
The same owners, Adrian Maher and Robbie O’Neill, were also on the mark on Monday night when their Roanna Becs ran out an easy three-length winner of race eight in a good 29.07.
Owners Tom Dempsey and Alan Dagg had a good week as they had a winner on both nights. Their Come On Withit had a great battle with Longslip Panther in race six on Thursday as they ran most of the race neck and neck, and on the drive for the line it was Come On who got the verdict by a head in a good time of 29.17.
Their charge Woodpecker Kate was a much easier winner on Monday night in race three, surging home with clear daylight from the rest of the field.
Race seven on Thursday saw the Seamus Whelanowned Piercestown Dove come in as reserve and duly win, coming from off the pace to win going away in a good 29.13.She looks like a lady that will get better when stepping up in distance in the future.
On Monday night her litter sister, Woodgrove Moll, was also eye-catching when scoring by a wide margin in race two for another former Wexford hurler, Willie Murphy from Piercestown.
