The traditional pilgrimage to Our Lady’s Island is now officially cancelled. A pilgrimage format similar to Knock will be organised making full use of the Webcam facility.

LEO CARTHY WEEKEND

It is with significant regret that we have to announce the cancellation of this year’s annual Leo Carthy Weekend. Given the challenging times we now find ourselves living in the committee has made this decision in the interests of public safety. The festival has gone from strength to strength each year and has raised significant funds for local and national voluntary organisations and groups to support the invaluable work they do. And while these funds will be needed now more than ever, we could not put the health of our local community and surrounding areas at risk to do so, particularly given the festival is in memory of a man who gave his whole life to supporting the community.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the artists, volunteers, generous sponsors and those who attend the festival each year for their support. We would ask, where possible, to continue to support these local businesses who have been so generous to us over the years. We might look to some fundraising event later in the year as restrictions ease and we’ll be back with an bang on the August bank holiday weekend next year. In the meantime stay safe and well.

SYMPATHY

your

It was with great sadness that the community learned of the sad passing of one of its great characters, Joan Power, last Wednesday. Joan was an integral part of our parish, from her devotion to the church and the community coffee shop, to her years of dedication along with her great friend Mollie to the local Tops group. Her devotion to her parish and community was second only to her lover for her family and we extend our deepest sympathy to Christine, Pauline, Pádraig, Nicky and the extended Power family on the sad passing of Joan.
