Forth Celtic take big step towards first Premier Division crown

-

FORTH CELTIC edged closer to lifting their first Premier title when they travelled to Courtown Hibs and ran out 5-0 winners against a very hard-working home side.

Two goals from Aleisha Cullen and one each from Siobhán Cloake, Aisling O’Sullivan and Rachel Scannell saw Forth move three points clear of Ferns with one final game between the two sides remaining.

Corach and Tombrack played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in Division 1, with Niamh Miller scoring both goals for Ramblers while Grace Gill and Zoe Tobin-Cosgrave were on target for a determined Tombrack.

Division 2 could have been won when Ross Town and Kiltealy Celtic clashed in St. Mary’s secondary school.

However, a thrilling game produced a 1-1 draw which means the league title will be decided by a play-off in the coming weeks.

Jenny Canning was on target for Town to give them an early lead, but Kiltealy bounced back ten minutes later to score through Orlagh Kehoe.

Both sides had chances to win it in the dying minutes, but defences dominated and the match ended all square.

Shelburne remained top of Division 3 after an 8-0 win away to Ajax Athletic, with Eimear Murphy scoring four, Kate O’Keeffe getting three, while Gina Foley added two.

Closest challengers Wexford Bohs had an easier than anticipated three points as Cushinstown were unable to field a team and conceded the game.
