Get Town & Village ideas in early

-

WEXFORD County Council Community section is seeking ideas in respect of projects which physically improve and/or increase the economic potential of towns and villages, in anticipation of the launch of the Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2021.

Speaking at the New Ross Municipal District meeting, area manager Mick McCormack said: ‘We are asking community groups across the county to bring forward details of any project which the council could consider for submission to the Department of Rural and Community Development.

‘While the 2021 scheme and its criteria has yet to be announced, Wexford County Council at this stage, is trying to ascertain the potential level of interest and the nature of any proposed projects that may be eligible for the scheme.

‘I would encourage all community groups in the District to engage with our community section and staff here in New Ross Municipal District as soon as they can to ensure a good volume and standard of application comes from the District for this year’s Town and Village Renewal funding.’

Five projects went forward from the district last year. Head of the council’s Community section Paul L’Estrange said his department will go ‘over and above’ to assist all applications from the district to get them to the highest possible standard in time for the selection process for the next round of funding.

‘ This includes in terms of finance. I want to see good, strong applications coming from New Ross. I would be very, very happy to see that.’
