Free baby sign classes on offer
Wexford County Council’s Public Library service is offering parents a free four-week course of Baby Sign classes which will be delivered via Zoom.
The classes are for parents of babies from newborn upwards and will be conducted by Claire Glynn of Clever Little Handies.
Babies communicate by pointing, waving and clapping long before they can talk and with the use of nursery rhymes, songs and poems with Irish Sign Language (ISL), the classes will help to support communication between parents and their babies and promote the development of early language.
The workshops will also serve as a networking opportunity for the participants to meet fellow local parents, babies and toddlers online.
Wexford County Council Public Library Service is looking forward to welcoming all parents, babies and toddlers to Rhyme Time sessions when branches re-open after coronavirus restrictions are lifted, according to a spokeswoman.
The baby sign classes will be hosted by Wexford Library at 9.30 am on four Mondays in March, 1, 8, 15 and 22; Bunclody Library at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays, March, 2, 9, 16, 23; Enniscorthy Library from 10.30 a.m. on Wednesdays, March 3, 10, 17, 24; Gorey Library from 11.30 on Wednesdays, March 3, 10, 17, 24.
