2021/2022 at Enniscorthy Vocational College

-

ENNISCORTHY Vocational College of Further Education (EVCFE) is again providing a wide range of courses to ensure that the needs of prospective learners are catered for. Typically, these courses attract learners that have completed their Leaving Certificate and may want another year to mature or to gain additional knowledge before embarking on further studies in Higher Education. These courses are also suitable for those that may have been recently unemployed and are wanting to return to education to get additional qualifications and then consider their next career move.

The wide range of courses provide the learner with the opportunity to upskill and lead to nationally recognised qualifications at Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) Level 5 and 6, City and Guilds and Beauty Therapy Qualifications CIDESCO, ITEC and CIBTAC. All courses have work placements allowing learners the opportunity of putting theory into practice. One of our unique selling points is the quality of our teaching and ancillary staff, which provide excellent teaching instruction, practical instruction and pastoral support. This assists in greatly in developing the capacities, skills and competencies that learners require to achieve their potential both personally and professionally.

Over the past decade EVCFE has sent sixteen students for three weeks on an annual basis to Vasteras in Sweden as part of the Erasmus Plus programme to gain work experience in their area of study. Unfortunately, this was not possible last year due to Covid-19 restrictions, but it is hoped that this will commence again next academic year. This exchange allows learners to immerse themselves in the cultures and traditions of a foreign country and experience first-hand work practices in a different country. EVCFE has also developed links with Malaga in Spain and Dusseldorf in Germany which will allow learners the opportunity to travel there to enhance their experience through work placement. A major positive associated with this exchange is that it is totally funded by the EU and reduces any barriers learners may have due to financial constraints.

There are numerous advantages associated with completing a Post Leaving Certificate course and they include:

You get a better understanding of your course of interest prior to heading onto Higher Education.

The smaller class sizes when compared to Third Level means that support from Course Directors is readily available.

Research has shown that learners who successfully complete a PLC course are better equipped for life at Third Level and less likely to fail in the first year.

In the current climate of uncertainty, a PLC course may provide you with a worthwhile solution for the upcoming year.

Excellent Progression opportunities to Third Level on completion of course and the option of going directly into the workforce.

If you are interested in any of our courses, please contact us on 053 9236969 or email: furthereducation@wwetb.ie. You can also visit our website www.evcfurthereducation.ie where you can apply online. The website will provide you with information regarding course content, fees and progression opportunities. Last year interviews took place over the phone and EVCFE will be in contact with learners who have applied shortly letting them know what way interviews will be proceeding this year.
