ENNISCORTHY RUGBY Club officials are on the look-out for a new head coach for 2021-’22 after Kieran Hurrell’s decision to depart Ross Road.

He described his four years in the position as ‘the most challenging, enjoyable and rewarding of my time as a coach’ in an announcement posted on the club’s Facebook page.

Hurrell said he made the decision at an early stage as he ‘wanted to let the club know as early as possible to ensure there is time for them to find a replacement’ ahead of the new season.

‘I believe a club is only as good as the people in it and I have seen examples of this in all areas in my time with the club,’ he wrote.

‘My personal goal was to ensure when I left the club I did so having helped future-proof the home grown ethos of the club and support the development of the youth players’ progression into the senior squad.’

Hurrell expressed pride in the fact that many young players have progressed through the ranks in that manner over the past four seasons.

The man known fondly as ‘Huzz’ presided over a very successful period which featured success in the Towns Cup as well as the club’s progression into the All-Ireland League.
