CLOTHES COLLECTION

Campile Area Developmen­t Group is holding a clothes collection in Campile Hall on Sunday, March 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. subject to HSE guidelines.

PIONEERS QUIZ – Horeswood Pioneers secured a double success in the area quiz finals in Fethard last Saturday. The junior team of George and Helen Whelan, John Kenny and Ger Breen and the senior team of Marie McWilliams, Johanna Walsh, Victor Murphy and George Whelan. qualified for the Regional final in Rathgarogu­e. Ballykelly were also represente­d by two teams. Their Junior team consisted of Mary and Seán Lyng, Geraldine Murphy and David Houghton, while James Howlin, George Hearn, Willie Lyng and Pat Shannon were on their senior team.

HANDBALL – Results from the doubles competitio­n in Gusserane alley. Aidan Colfer and Jimmy Breen beat Matt Carty and Victor Murphy. Johnny Kehoe and Francis Doyle beat Declan Hart and P Sinnott. John Clancy and Matt Larkin beat Jimmy O’Leary and Denis Crosbie. Jim White and Walter Power beat Liam Wallace and Jimmy Murphy.

COMHALTAS SESSION – the members of Comhaltas travelled to Walsh’s, Saltmills last Thursday for their weekly session. Among the members who took part were Mary Power, Liz King, Tom white, Tom Dunne, Mick and Billy Hogan.

FINE GAEL AGM - Paddy Rossiter, New Ross, who is District chairman presided over the Campile AGM, which was attended by TD Michael Darcy and John Browne, MCC. Elected for 1980 were: chairman: John Hartley. vice-chairman: Michael Hart. Secretary: William Tector. Joint treasurers: Johanna Walsh and Frank Murphy. Delegates to Co. Convention: William Tector, Owen O’Connor, Larry Murphy, Brian Barnwell. Delegates to District meeting: Matt Furlong, Pat O’Brien and Pat Barnwell.

MACRA NA FEIRME – Campile Macra na Feirme held a meeting in the old school last Friday where they decided to hold a Talent Competitio­n open to all organisati­ons. It will take place in Campile Hall in March and be follower by a dance.

BALLYKELLY TOPS – Three groups, the youth club, Pioneers and iCA will take part in Ballykely

Tops to be held at the end of February.
