TULLOGHERROSBERCON
MASS TIMES
Due to the ongoing restrictions on the celebration of Mass in public we will have to do with Facebook and television for the time being. Mass on facebook. comes from the Church of the Assumption Rosbercon each Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and again on Sundays at 11 a.m.
On weekdays, you can view the Mass at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. There is also Mass on the RTÉ News Channel 521, Monday to Friday inclusive, where, whether it is a Bishop or a priest celebrating, the ceremony is over in 25 minutes and not a word left out.
LATE ANN MURPHY
Last week we lost another of our much-loved parishioners with the death of Ann Murphy (née O’Neill) from Darbystown, Tullogher. Ann was a native of Murrintown, Co Wexford, and was happily married to Pat Murphy for a long number of years. She was very much part of the parish community and loved to share her thoughts with all of whom she came into contact with. Ann will be missed not alone around her home place in Darbystown but further afield as well.
Due to the ban of public funerals, a private ceremony was held in the Church of the Assumption, Rosbercon, on Saturday last after which Ann was laid to rest in Mullinarrigle cemetery.
Sincere sympathy goes to her husband, Pat, sisters, brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family and a large circle of neighbours and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
PLAYING FIELDS DESERTED
There was some hope, albeit a tiny one, that the Taoiseach, Michael Martin, last week might ease the Level 5 restrictions in order to allow some activity to take place in the sporting arena.
Alas, this was not possible due to the ongoing high case levels of the Coronavirus which left him with no alternative but to keep the shut down going till at least April.
Maybe, but its only maybe, that then sports can resume then with strict protocol to be maintained, but the more likely resumption date would be in the month of May.
CHURCH COLLECTIONS
Like all organisations who depend on voluntary contributions, the Catholic Church is suffering from the much-reduced donations in parishes all over Ireland. Here, in Rosbercon, the picture is much the same.
With Rosbercon, Tullogher and Listerlin churches closed the usual contributions have slowed down dramatically. There are no box collections, and weekly envelopes donations are struggling to make up the parish deficit.
There is much emphasis on the latter way so all parishioners are kindly asked to keep the envelopes coming in. They can be placed in the box at the rear of the church, or handed in to the parish office or the Parochial House which ever is the most convenient.
