Community in mourning following Edmond’s passing

Edmond Sweetman, who passed away last Friday April 12, has been described a ‘ kind- hearted, friendly boy’ with a ‘ gentle soul’ by those who knew him best.

Tributes and and messages of condolence­s have been flooding in for Edmond, of Ballymacke­ssy, Clonroche, who was the eldest son of Liam and Monique Sweetman, and brother of Katie, Barry and Anthony.

‘ Deepest sympathy to to Monique, Liam and family on ( the) very sad loss of your beloved son Edmond. I remember him in Bellefield Rd, beautiful blonde hair and a beautiful smile, may his gentle soul rest in peace,’ said Myra Weafer.

‘ My thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. I have very fond memories of Edmond, a kind hearted, friendly little boy who always had many stories to tell me and always gave the class a giggle,’ wrote Gillian and Michael Delaney.

Cliodhna, Phil, Padhraig, Rory and Hannah Loughlin remembered Edmond as ‘ a lovely, funny and gentle soul’ and said they had ‘ fond memories of the lads playing together’.

Ronan and Liz Burke had similar memories, saying ‘ Eddie will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of working with him.’

‘ The memories you gave us will be cherished forever,’ wrote Hannah K. ‘ Not a moment where you didn’t have a smile on your face. Rest easy Ed, be that funny, kind and gentle soul you were. You left us a lifetime of memories which we will be forever grateful for.’

Offering his condolence­s to Monique and Liam and all the family, Damien Murphy said Edmond will ‘ be missed by many. Your smile, your sense of humour and everything about you. Fly high buddy. Until we meet again. Gone but not forgotten.’

And Harry Dixon summed up Edmond in this heartfelt message: ‘ Ed was a character who couldn’t help but make friends wherever he went, he will be missed but not forgotten, he was a friend that I will remember for his cheeky smile and contagious laugh.’

A private family funeral will be held for Edmond today. The funeral Mass will be available to view online at www. cloughbawn­church.ie from 12.00 p. m.
