Lauren’s business set for national stage

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

HAVING become aware of the negative impact that wearing a facemask all day can have on your skin, transition year student at Bridgetown College Lauren Williams came up with a fantastic solution, which will now see her go forward to represent Wexford at the National Student Enterprise Awards next month.

Lauren, who lives near Bannow, has already managed to win the senior category of the Student Enterprise Programme with her business Irish Sea Mist and she’s hopeful that she might just bring the big prize back to Wexford next month.

The product is a relatively simple but clever one, born from necessity. It’s a face mist used when wearing a mask in a bid to prevent any damage to your skin. Having to wear a mask all day in school, Lauren noticed her skin was suffering and it was causing irritation and spots on her face. The Student Enterprise programme was the perfect opportunity to come up with a solution and she came up with her product which uses essential oils along with seawater collected from the coastline of Bannow Bay.

Along the way, Lauren has received great support, not least of all from Breda’s Corner Shop, Bridgetown Pharmacy and the

Red Door Café along with Wexford County Council. She’s also enjoyed the support of her mentors Lorraine Butler, MD of CPM Ireland, BDM at Dual Insurance

Helen Furlong and her teachers at Bridgetown College, particularly Ms Fortune.

As she goes on to represent Wexford on the national stage,

Lauren wishes to thank everyone who has helped her to produce and sell her products so far. For more information, visit irishseamist.com.
