Art fundraiser goes incognito for Jack & Jill
WORKS by 48 artists from County Wexford are among those whose works are included in a new fundraising initiative in aid of the Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation.
A veritable ‘who’s who’ of Irish and international artists have contributed works to the fundraiser which will see postcard sized art pieces go up for sale online.
The fundraiser, ‘Incognito’, is organised so that the artists behind the works remain anonymous until such time as a piece is bought.
It’s a fun initiative that in addition to bring in some much needed funds for one of the most respected charities in the country, also places a major emphasis on art being truly appreciated.
The Incognito art collection is now live online at www.incognito.ie and the online art sale itself will get under way at 10 a.m. sharp on Thursday, April 22.
‘What’s so incredibly fun and exciting about Incognito compared with any other art sale is that the identity of the artists behind the paintings is kept top secret until the sale has closed,’ said a spokesperson for the organisers.
Each art piece will be offered for sale at €60 each and the overall collection is composed of over 3,000 original postcard-sized pieces.
The range of work is very diverse and includes pieces created in a range of mediums including oils, pastels, glass and metalwork.
The spokesperson said it’s a sale that is usually ‘a sprint to the checkout’.
‘Everything sold out last year in just 15 minutes,’ he said.
Some well-known artists from Co Wexford whose work is in the sale include: Rhian Foley; David Booth; Inez Nordell; Lisa Rossiter; Maria Levinge and Shanon O’Bracken while some of the famous international stars taking part this year include The Edge, Bob Geldof, fashion designer, Paul Costelloe, Jason Byrne, Tommy Tiernan, Don Conroy, and Nobel prize-winner, Dr William Campbell.
‘Incognito’ has to-date raised almost €450,000 for the foundation, equating to over 28,000 hours of specialist home-care nursing.
