-

Cheltenham Festival sponsor, OLBG.com, is a free to join sports betting community of 50,000 expert punters all working together to beat the bookies. In the lead up to Cheltenham, the OLBG forum becomes the hive of activity with members discussing their opinions on every race. Below are three tips that haven't yet captured the public's imagination.

SUPREME NOVICE HURDLE – HENDERSON IS COMING

With many punters hoping for a Willie Mullins day one four-fold, bookmakers will be praying for Min to come unstuck in the very first race of the Festival. Opinion on the OLBG forum is that may well happen.

OLBG member Robmull, for one, likes the recent record of Nicky Henderson horses in this race stating, “Henderson has hit the frame with eight of his last seventeen runners in the race during the past decade.”

In fact, if we delve deeper and look at Henderson’s best place finisher every year since 2007,it reads 3,2,8,4,2,2,2,2,4 a record that suggests the master of Seven Barrows is not just knocking on the Supreme Novice door, but practically kicking it down!

Henderson has two extremely exciting contenders in Altior and Buveur D’Air and both must be treated with the utmost respect if lining up on the day.

HUNTER CHASE – KEEP AN EYE ON MARITO

All eyes will be on the Gold Cup come Friday afternoon, but according to general opinion on the OLBG forum, the best bet of the day may well arrive in the very next race. The Foxhunter Chase has a very open look according to the latest betting. Marito, formerly trained by Mullins, has attracted strong support among OLBG betting experts.

OLBG member JackH1092 says, “I’ve been to watch all Marito’s races this season, including his PTP victories and he’s been winning effortlessly. His trainer (Colin McBratney) is very adept at these type of races, training Carsontown Boy at 40/1 to finish second in the Foxhunters back in 2014.”

After stringing three wins together since October, Marito finally met with defeat in a PTP in early February, going down by half a length to the useful Aupcharlie. Excuses can be made as it was his first run for six weeks and the ground would have been soft enough for this classy sort.

JLT NOVICES CHASE – GARDE GEARS UP FOR JLT

With Douvan looking virtually unbeatable in the 2m Arkle Chase, the JLT Novices Chase may prove the best option for trainers with a talented horse that can stretch its stamina an extra four furlongs.

OLBG tipsters like one particular horse that seems destined to take the JLT route: Phillip Hobbs’ Garde La Victoire. Members Derbz87 and Slimey are both more than keen on his chances.

“He loves Cheltenham (winning three times) and won over the JLT trip as a hurdler,” said Derbz87. Fellow member Slimey reiterated how valuable Garde La Victoire's good course form could be and adds: “He will have the best jockey around on board (Richard Johnson), which is a huge plus.”

Garde La Victoire slammed current favourite Bristol De Mai back in October, conceding 9lb in the process so looks worthy of serious consideration.
