There’s an abundance of angst and very little cheer for the residents of

Carrigstown this Christmas. Melanie is grim when she realises she can no longer sleep in the launderette and decides that buying a car is her best option. She lies to Alex, and tells him that she will get help.

Paul puts on a brave face when he sees Robbie and Hayley together and is irritated when Oisín gifts him a voucher for an escort agency. His emotions get the better of him when he and Ruth receive gifts from Niamh. The community rally around when Paul worries that he’s having a heart attack – but it’s appendicitis.

Elsewhere, Sharon nds a ring that Robbie has bought for Nora and presumes it’s for Hayley. She oats the idea to Carol that Robbie is going to propose to Hayley and Carol decides to keep quiet about their night of passion. Carol tells Robbie that she can’t stay in Carrigstown because she loves him.

Bob and Renee are at loggerheads, with Renee believing that he doesn’t want Ellie living with them. Heather falls to pieces in front of Renee, admitting she is a bad mother and Renee is devastated that Ellie is being sel ess, looking after Heather in Brazil. Meanwhile, Bob promises Renee a happy Christmas Day, but he’s dealt a blow when Heather unwittingly turns o the oven, not realising that the turkey is in it. With Christmas behind them, and everyone preparing for the wedding, Jim announces that Farrah is leaving Carrigstown. Renee refuses to talk to Farrah about her trip, but eventually, the two women make peace. As the big day arrives, Renee is thrilled when Jim surprises her with a vintage car, but there’s trouble to come when the car is reported stolen. Renee and Bob eventually make it down the aisle and Farrah is moved when she sees how much they love one another.
