Amy Adams has plenty of support in this category, given the fact that she is batting 0-5 on the Oscar front. Meanwhile The Favourite duo is likely to split votes and Mexican actress Marina de Tavira is a long-shot for her excellent turn in Roma. The one name that has stayed in the frame, bolstered by all those critics’ awards, is Regina King. The lack of a SAG or BAFTA nomination would appear to weigh against the actress, but Beale Street deserves some love and, in the absence of a nomination for Best Film or Best Director, this is the category that should provide it.
