Anthony is tourism chairman
ANTHONY GRAY has been named the new chairman of Sligo Tourism.
The local restaurateur – who owns Eala Bhán and Hooked – takes up the role in what is likely to be another challenging year for the hospitality sector.
Despite this, the former Sligo Food Trail chairperson said that promotion of what Sligo has to offer as a prime option for a staycation will be no different than any other year. On becoming chairman of Sligo Tourism, he said: “I now look forward excitedly to working more closely with all the stake holders in Sligo, especially the County Council, Fáilte Ireland, Sligo Leader, Sligo Chamber of Commerce, Sligo BID, South Sligo Tourism, Sligo Tidy Towns, Sligo Walks, LEO and all the other bodies and companies that continue to promote Sligo as the amazing destination it is. The next step forward is with collaboration, like-minded thinking and a common vision in mind.” “Collectively, we want to share and communicate the wonderful things we have to offer here in Sligo and to welcome back our beloved tourists hopefully sooner rather than later. “My love for our beautiful local beaches, golf, fishing, walking and exploring is fuelled even further with the prospect of sharing Sligo with all who will listen.” “There are, of course, some very exciting projects ahead to launch 2021 and a positive new outlook for what is to come after challenging times.” “The year will not be easy either, and we in tourism have major challenging times ahead, but we will promise to always put Sligo to the forefront as before and commit to growing awareness of why we have the best staycation, family holiday, foodie, music, adventure break location there is and more.” “Along with past and present board members of Sligo Tourism I look forward to this time to come. Watch this space, Sligo.”
