A SLIGO musician-turned-photographer will have his first solo exhibition in Sligo this year.

Eddie Lee of Those Nervous Animals and the Sligo Jazz Project presents a selection of his work in Wherever I Go, Sligo at the Hyde Bridge Gallery. Eddie took up photography during the Covid-19 pandemic and quickly earned a reputation for his portraits and images of the night sky which capture cosmic scenes which elude the naked eye hanging over familiar Sligo scenery.

He said: “When I think of the stuff thats happened to us all in the past year, it sounds corny but my photography has put me on a different path, feeling energised and creative, in a time when many of us were reeling into uncertainty.”

His exhibition will be a mixture of landscapes and portraits, the latter of which includes work on a recent project which celebrates Sligo’s multi-cultural community.

“The show is dedicated to the many wonderful people from so many nationalities and walks of life, whose journey has somehow quite magically taken them here to the North West of Ireland. I’m thankful to them – especially those with whom I have collaborated for years musically – our lives are richer for them.”

Wherever I Go, Sligo runs from July 31 to August 24 at the Hyde Bridge Gallery. Some of the exhibition’s wonderful photos are reproduced here.
