- By Caitlin Donoghue

ENNISCRONE is one of Sligo’s most famous seaside resorts, well known for its beauty and sandy beach. There is plenty to do in this popular, lively town during the mid-term.

You can start off your day by grabbing a coffee at Apres Tea. The coffee cart on the beach offers a après-ski style environment. They serve fresh barista coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cold drinks and a selection of snacks. It is perfect to grab a treat before a day full of activities.

Next you can go for a surf at Enniscrone beach. The beach is a great spot for beginners and intermediate surfers. There are surf schools with verified instructors to help you improve your skills or catch your first wave.

If surfing is not your thing, Enniscrone is also the perfect place to give stand-up paddle boarding a try. The Harbour Sup and Sailing Club at Enniscrone provide equipment and lessons for yourself or the whole family to try. If you’re already a pro, you’re able to rent a board for a couple of hours.

Enniscrone Golf Club has a world-famous championship links course, which is an enjoyable test for golfers of all levels. Enniscrone Beach is the perfect place to relax, walk, swim or dip your toes in the water.

The golden sandy beach continues for over five kilometres. The beach is always lively and full of excitement throughout the year. Make sure to keep an eye out for the many events taking place. After a day out around Enniscrone, one of the best places to head for a meal is Gilroy’s Bar and Ait Eile Restaurant. It is a traditional Irish pub and award-winning restaurant located on main street. With the great atmosphere and outstanding quality of food, it is worth visiting. If you are craving something sweet, Maple Moose is the place to go. Their homemade ice-cream, crepes and waffles make it the ideal place to grab an afternoon treat. They have plenty of delicious ice-cream flavours such as Oreo, Strawberry, Raspberry and Cookies. They also serve incredible artisan pizza if ice-cream isn’t your thing.

Kilcullen’s seaweed baths is the place you must go to clear your head during your time in the west Sligo town.

The experience is one that will leave you refreshed and relaxed. The experience is well worth it. The baths were established in 1912. The bathhouse is located on Cliff road, just south of the pier.

The Enniscrone Coastal Loop walk is another worthwhile activity. It is a 1.78 kilometre walk which takes about 30-40 minutes. The loop starts from Enniscrone Pier and has spectacular scenery and views of Killala Bay.

There is seating along the walk giving you the opportunity to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

If the weather is not great for outdoor activities, you can head to the Waterpoint Aqua Park. This a water park and sports centre which is loads of fun for the family.

You can relax in the sauna and steam room or get active in main pool and 65 metre slide. Waterpoint Water Park is the best place to go on those dreaded rainy days.
