Five wins apiece for top tier’s form sides

A superior goal difference keeps Carbury FC ahead of Cartron United at the top of the Super League

-

CCartron United’s result from the night before (Saturday) to remain top of the table. At MacSharry Park, under lights, Cartron United beat Cliffoney Celtic 3-0.

Two goals from Malachy Spratt – to bring his season’s current tally up to nine – helped Cartron United win their fifth game so far, with Dan Beya also on target for the winners.

Because Strand Celtic, in third, were in action in the FAI Centenary Junior Cup, the chasing pack had a chance to make up some ground.

MCR FC moved up two places, from sixth to fourth, thanks to their 5-4 away win over Real Tubber.

This thriller produced nine goals – three of which came from MCR’s Donagh Crowne.

There was also a brace from Darren Somers to give MCR their third win

ARBURY FC and Cartron United are setting the pace at the top of the Sligo Southern Hotel Super League. Both have a 100% record after five games and the only thing keeping them apart is Carbury’s superior goal difference – the champions are on +23 goals compared to a +13 figure for second-placed Cartron United.

Carbury were comfortable 6-0 winners against second from bottom Ballisodare United at Forthill last Sunday. The hosts led 2-0 at the break courtesy of first-half goals from Aaron Murrin, who converted a penalty, and Niall Brennan. Gareth Kelly’s second-half hattrick ended up being the highlight of Carbury’s fifth win of the season, with

Jason Lyons scoring their sixth goal.
