Kieran Quinn Theme Night

This Saturday Kieran Quinn and the Theme Night Ensemble return to a full capacity Hawk’s Well for the first time in over two years.

This exciting theme promises a wide variety of music played by your favourite Sligo musicians.

Kieran will collaborat­e with Sligo’s huge community of wonderful musicians to bring together a great show.

Roisin O is at Anderson’s Live

Roisin O is in Anderson’s this Saturday as part of her biggest Irish tour to date.

The tour is taking place to coincide with the release of her new album, Corageous, which will be released tomorrow, Friday. Roisin is in Anderson’s Grill & Bar on Saturday. Doors open at 9pm. Tickets can be purchased from www.ticketweb.ie.

A story about Greenland

This Saturday, The Model will host a screening of A Greenland Story. The documentar­y reveals a country and people at a crossroads between tradition and modernity.

With no roads connecting its coastal communitie­s, a boat and its Irish crew move quietly in the background giving rare access to remote villages up into the Arctic Circle. In near 24-hour daylight, sailing by vast icebergs and sharing midnight encounters with humpback whales, we are invited into homes and communitie­s along the way. Tickets are available from www.themodel.ie. Sales from the event will go to the Ukrainian Red Cross and Sligo Bay RNLI.

The Whistlin’ Donkeys gig

Later this month, Saturday, May 28, The Whistlin’ Donkeys will bring their show to the Radisson Blu Hotel, Sligo, for the first time. Doors open at 8pm and the performanc­e will begin at 9pm.

Biodiversi­ty Week walk

On Tuesday, May 17, to celebrate Biodiversi­ty Week 2022 (May 15 to May 22) join Woodrow ecologists for a guided pollinator walk and talk. They will be sharing their knowledge of the wonderful diversity of pollinator species present around Doorly Park. This family and child friendly walk will be at a leisurely place with plenty of time for questions.

Wear comfortabl­e, weather appropriat­e clothing and footwear. This event is weather dependent. The walk begins from Doorly Park playground at 4.30pm.

Open Day at university

This Saturday there will be an open day at ATU Sligo. This open day will ensure that students get all the informatio­n they need to make their CAO choices.

You will hear from lecturers, students and learn more about their range of programmes. The open day begins at 10am.

Playing darts for charity

Tomorrow, Friday, there will be a charity darts night for Aware at Yeats County Inn Hotel, Curry. This will be an evening of local dart throwers, chatting and entertainm­ent.

Storytelli­ng night at Lillies

On Thursday, May 12, open mic storytelli­ng night in Lillie’s Cocktail Bar starting at 7.30pm. True stories, told live. Sign-up to tell a story on the night, with a free drink for all storytelle­rs. This month’s theme is taking a chance. Donations accepted on the door with all proceeds going to the Irish Red Cross Ukrainian Appeal.

Jack B Yeats history night

This coming Sunday, May 8, join Sligo Heritage and History Club as they delve into Jack Butler Yeats’ childhood in Sligo as they discover how shipping and the Sligo landscape inspired the great artist’s paintings throughout his eventful life.

The event starts at 8pm at the Yeats Building.

Orchestra and NoCrows collab

This Sunday there will be a unique performanc­e at The Model. This is a collaborat­ive performanc­e involving Sligo-based folk orchestra, NoCrows and Sligo Baroque Orchestra.

The collaborat­ion includes music composed by members of NoCrows, arranged by Anna Houston for Sligo Baroque Orchestra and NoCrows.

The program will also include a Vivaldi Cello Concerto played by three Sligo Academy of Music students. The performanc­e will start at 1pm. Book tickets at www. themodel.ie.

Holistic event in Strandhill

Holistic Angel Fair in Strandhill. Meet your local and internatio­nal holistic therapists, psychics, angel card readers and gifts and craft workers.

Readings and treatments available to enjoy on the day with some special offers available. The entry fee of €3 gives you entry to a prize draw and distance angelic healing, come and go as often as you please.
