THE new Drumcliffe Primary Care Centre was a hive of activity as doctors from the Drumcliffe Family Practice moved in on Monday of this week.

There had been concerns expressed about the delay in seeing the care centre fully operational, but the HSE say it will be fully operational by the end of September.

It has been open for a number of HSE services since July 4.

The services availing of the building and providing clinics to patients since then are as follows: Physiotherapy - Women’s Health Clinic; Dietetics - Primary Care and Paediatric Service; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)/ Addiction Services;Public Health Nursing/ Child Services; Occupational Therapy; Community Medical Services.

The HSE will continue to expand services delivered in the Drumcliffe Primary Care Centre over the next number of months.

The total area of Drumcliffe of the centre is 5,915 square feet.

The rooms in the building include a primary care team office suitable for up to four staff, a child development room that can also be used as a bookable room when not in use by the public health nurses and further bookable rooms for use by other HSE services and a wound management room.

In the GP area, there are consulting rooms, a practice nurse’s room and office space for admin and reception area.

The building includes a staff kitchen/tearoom and staff changing area.

“This building will be a significant asset for the population of North Sligo with the provision of both GP services and a wide range of other HSE delivered health services.

“The opening of this building further supports the HSE policy of enhancing community services and providing the infrastructure for multidisciplinary services to be provided close to home.”
