Seán Feehily’s Funeral Home and Cremation Services combines sense of tradition with the latest trends to provide a premium professional Funeral Service in Sligo

-

THROUGHOUT Ireland many businesses are built on the tradition of dedicated and personal customer service.

They are the cornerstones of any community and proudly serve the people they have known for generations. In many cases, the family companies are trail blazers. In 1963 Seán Feehily's Funeral Home and Cremation Services was established by current owner Seán Feehily's parents, Jim and Kathleen Feehily. This progressed further in 1987 when Seán Seán Feehily's Funeral Home at Cartron Cross, Duck Street, Sligo F91EH98 was opened. Seán Feehily's Funeral Home was the first purpose-built funeral home facility in the north-west, offering a new era in the care of bereaved families.

Seán Feehily qualified as a member of the British Institute of Embalmers in 1986, having previously studied at the School of Business Studies at Sligo RTC.

Their vision was to establish the company out of a desire to offer a new standard of support and care for bereaved families across the north west region.

That still is the heart of the company 60 years on.

Jim and Kathleen believed in being a constant and reassuring presence for grieving families during these difficult periods and that ethos remains today at Seán Feehily's Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Cartron Cross, Sligo.

Seán said: “Today, we continue premier, at-need and pre-need funeral services with a focus on the client family's requests and budget at all times.

“Our guiding principle then and now is the commitment to treat each bereaved family as we would our own. With sincerity, pride and dedication, our deeply caring team are committed to this time-honoured, third-generation tradition.”

From starting in 1963 on The Mall, Jim and Kathleen lived long enough to see their son Seán cultivating their reputation for the utmost discretion, passion and sensitivity, which gave them both an unerring, quiet pride. Every company wants to guarantee quality.

At Seán Feehily's Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, they have national recognition which is only obtained by long-term, top quality services provided to their clients in being the only Funeral Director in Sligo town achieving the “Excellence standard” as members of the Irish Association of Funeral Directors (IAFD) and are guided by the association's code of ethics.

The IAFD is consulted by govern- ment, local authorities and media and has established a code of practice to offer the highest level of quality and professionalism in funeral services to the communities the association's members serve.

Continually providing a quality service means you can't afford to rest on your laurels and you won't find the team at Cartron Cross doing that as they continue to adapt and evolve. Susan Cox recently achieved the Diploma in Funeral Directing following study with the Irish Association of Funeral Directors.

Seán added: “Staff at Sean Feehily's

Funeral Home and Cremation Services are devoted to continuously upskilling in funeral directing and embalming.

“Our funeral home is popular as a spacious location for traditional funer- als, celebrations of life and all Funeral requests, with private parking and, most importantly, all services in car- ing for your loved one are carried out within the funeral home at Cartron Cross by a compassionate and gen- der-balanced team.”

This upskilling was very much put to the test by Covid-19, but years of being ahead of the trend stood them in good stead for these new challenges and changes to the industry, some of which have remained to this day. We have moved with modern traditions and needs.

“Covid changed everything because funerals became much smaller and more intimate but we have always been ahead of trends.

“We always adjust to client needs, some families like a very public funeral, others like a private funeral so we are always able to adapt as requested.
