Kevin Egan Cars opens landmark new €4m Peugeot and Citroen showroom in Sligo

-

KEVIN Egan Cars, the primary dealership in the Northwest of Ireland for Peugeot and Citroen, is this week celebrating the official launch of its new €4 million showroom and sales facility.

The new showroom is the centrepiece of a completely revamped three-acre site on Sligo’s Old Dublin Road, which is also home to a stateof-the-art after-sales maintenance centre and valeting bay.

Owned and operated by chief executive Kevin Egan, the company has become synonymous with quality and customer trust in the Irish car market since its formation in 2009.

Kevin Egan Cars won six major industry awards between 2012 and 2016 before signing a deal with Gowan Auto to take on the prestigious Peugeot franchise in the Northwest in 2017. Record-setting years for sales followed in 2018 and 2019, leading to the multi-million euro deal to develop a three-acre greenfield site in Sligo. Earlier this year, Kevin Egan Cars built on its positive relationship with Gowan Auto and agreed a deal to promote the Citroen brand in Sligo. The same year, the company broke ground on its new showroom, which represents a total investment of €4m.

Kevin Egan Cars now employs 27 staff across its newly expanded 7,200 sq ft Peugeot and Citroen showroom, on-site aftersales maintenance facility, and valeting bay.

CEO Kevin Egan said the opening of the showroom is a major milestone in the continuing success story of the business.

He added: “Our new facility marks a huge step forward for Kevin Egan Cars. Since starting the business in 2009, opening this showroom has been our ambition and it’s a pleasure to see it finally come to fruition following the challenges of Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic.

“That the business has continued to expand despite these challenges is testament to our durability, key to which has been our unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards in terms of products and customer service.”

Kevin Egan Cars employs 27 people in Sligo, with more expected to come on board in the coming years. Longevity, quality, and reliability are the hallmarks of our business, and the new showroom is emblematic of those qualities.

“We are the only dealership in the Northwest for both Peugeot and Citroen cars.

“This is a huge source of pride for us, and we are confident that the combination of these firstclass vehicles and our own first-class service will prove a winning combination – for the business, Peugeot, Citroen, and our customers.”

Citroen Brand Manager Ronan Hunt – whose family connection to the brand stretches back to when his father, Tom Hunt, was the primary dealer of Citroen cars in Sligo – is similarly excited about the opening of the showroom. He said: “This new showroom is the ideal home for a car as unique as Citroen. Citroen is different. It doesn’t look or drive like anything on the road.

“Every car company wants to make a comfortable car, but Citroen is known for making compact cars with relaxation and individuality in mind. That’s why the brand motto is, ‘For everyone, like-none’. The brand has evolved since I was a kid, but the idea hasn’t changed. Citroen is the people’s car. No-one makes cars like Citroen.”
