Belfast band PiNKSLiPS to start tour with free gig in Sligo

-

HARD rock band PiNKSLiPS will be performing in Furey’s Pub on Friday, February 16.

Formed amidst the musical drought of the pandemic, songwriter Gerry Norman began working with guitarist David McGaughey on a collection of rock songs in the bowels of Vault Artist Studios.

Those songs took on a life of their own with the addition of the deadly rhythm of Shane Watters on drums and Carl Gilmore on bass early 2021,

With a focus on high energy, riff based guitars, rhythmic groove and anthemic choruses, the band’s shared love of live music, heavy rock, and energetic performance soon set about shaping their own rock sound.

After a year of mishap, incident and personal setbacks, PiNKSLiPS finally came out from the shadows in August 2022, making their live debut at Vault Artists Summer Festival.

In January 2023 they brought their music to the world on BBC Radio

Ulster, with a live session on The Eve Blair Show, and followed this up with a headline show at the Look North! Festival, and an Old Crows gig at the famed Oh Yeah Music Centre.

They capped off the summer in style with a blistering performance at the wonderful Stendhal Festival, and set about recording what would become their first two singles at The Badlands Studios with Allan McGreevy (New Pagans/ Teddy Charles Jnr/ Rupture Dogs).

PiNKSLiPS’ first single ‘Young Blood’ came into the world on December 1 – “a blistering alt rock track brimming with heart and soul” according to BBC Across The Line, where it was placed as one of their Top 3 World Exclusives of the Year.

The band are set to release their second single, ‘Ambidextrous’ on February 16 to coincide with the Sligo gig.

Doors open at 9.30pm. Sligo band, Some Remains, will be the support act.

Admission is free.
