CONFIRMATI­ON:

At the AGM of Gurteen text alert in December it was agreed to collect the €5 again this year to run the text alert system. So anyone who has not paid or new members who wish to join please put name and mobile number on an envelope with the €5 and leave in Centra or O'Gradys Filling Station or give to any committee member as soon as possible as new list will be done in two weeks

Gurteen active age retirement group resume meetings in the Coleman Centre, Gurteen on Monday February 12 at 2pm. New members are most welcome.

Gurteen tidy towns are having a meeting in Gurteen Hall on Monday February 12 at 9pm. New members are encouraged to join the group - who did great work in keeping the village and surrounds clean and tidy.

Shamrock Gaels held their annual underage awards ceremony recently where they presented winning medals to U13 Boys A Shield League and Championsh­ip, U14 Girls A Championsh­ip, U18 Boys B Shield and U18 Girls C Championsh­ip winners. The Club also presented player of the year awards to:

U10, Victoria Barlow and Daithi Scanlon; U11, Savannah Cox and Brian Merrick; U12, Ciara Byrne and Aaron Brehony; U13, Leon McMorrow; U15, Eoghan Conboy; U16, Orlaith Scanlon; U17, Aaron Coleman and U18, Hannah Willis. Overall winner was Katie Gilligan. Congratula­tions to all and thank you to the Kearns family for sponsorshi­p of these awards.

Riverstown Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann presents Keelan McGrath, Leah Grealish, Jack McGrath and Caithlín McGrath in concert on Saturday, February 10 in the Morrison Cottage, Riverstown at 8.30pm. out for some exercise? Shamrock Gaels Healthy Clubs Committee is delighted to announce that they will be a hosting a Couch to 5K starting Wednesday, February 21 at 7:30 in Riverstown Park. The Healthy Clubs Committee, in partnershi­p with

Sligo Sport and Recreation, will be running the initiative for 6 weeks, every Wednesday at the cost of €30. Paul Murray will be facilitati­ng the sessions. There will be a registrati­on night on Monday, February 12, Riverstown Park from 7:30 to 8:30. A card machine will available in the park for those wishing to pay by card. Ardkeeran National School is hosting a used clothing collection fundraiser. Please collect any of the following items, in good clean condition, that you want to get rid of, bag and drop off at the school. Please leave bags in the bicycle shed or by drop into the office on or before Monday, February 12. Items include: men's, women's and children's clothing, shoes (pairs only), hats, scarves, belts, handbags, ties, bed-linen, curtains and towels.

The next local event in the Mothers' Union diary is on Tuesday, February 20 at 8pm in the Cooper Memorial Hall, Riverstown. Jacinta Kelly, Director of Nursing at North West Hospice will speak about Palliative Care and the work of the North West Hospice service. All are welcome to come along to this evening, whether members of the Mothers' Union or not.
