Mercy aim for LGFA success in Connacht

-

SLIGO town’s Mercy College, who have won two All-Ireland schools basketball titles in recent weeks, are going for provincial honours in Ladies Football this coming Monday, March 4.

The Lisa Casey-managed Mercy side will play Galway’s Coláiste na Coiribe in the Connacht LGFA Post Primary Schools Senior ‘D’ Championship final at Swinford Amenity Park (throw-in 11.30am). Extra-time will be played, if necessary, at the Mayo venue.

Four members of the Mercy Ladies Football squad helped the school complete this season’s brilliant basketball double at national level – Kayleigh Walsh, the McDaniel sisters, Sarah and Anna, and Xena Morgan. Team manager Lisa Casey, who starred for Eastern Harps and Sligo during her playing career, guided Loreto College Cavan to national honours last year – they won the Lidl LGFA Post Primary Schools All-Ireland Junior ‘A’ Championship. Last month St Attracta’s Community School won the Connacht LGFA Post Primary Schools Senior ‘B’ Championship title.
