Tally ho in Co Tipperary!

-

Approached by a sweeping, tree-lined driveway, Millpark House outside Roscrea is a three-storey-over-basement property with eight bedrooms dating from the 1700s. Millpark was once the home of the Vaughan family of Welsh descent and later, in the 1800s, the land was leased to one Adam Acres.

The current owners bought the property in the early 1960s and since have carried out various upgrades including some wiring, plumbing, roof and floor repairs.

They also installed a new kitchen, which has recently been renovated, yet retains a country feel. Millpark retains many period features including original wooden floors, fireplaces and sash windows.

The eight bedrooms are well-proportioned and the agents suggest that the house could be used either as a family home or for another purpose, subject to planning permission.

With the house come 40 acres of good grassland, with farm buildings and a courtyard to the rear of the property with covered space to house livestock or bloodstock.

The land is all fully fenced and keen equestrians will have the opportunity to hunt with the local Ormond Foxhounds.

Roscrea is an Irish Heritage Town and a fine example of a midlands market town, with a wide main street lined by shops and businesses and several buildings of historic importance. The town has supermarkets, pubs and restaurants and a choice of primary and secondary schools. There is also a leisure centre and swimming pool.

The walking paths of the nearby Golden Grove Forest offer panoramic viewing points, while the Slieve Bloom Mountains are popular with hikers, horse riders, and mountain bikers.

The Roscrea Golf Course, founded in 1892, is one of the finest 18-hole courses in the Midlands and Lough Derg is a 35-minute drive.

Millpark is close to the M7 and a 90-minute drive from Dublin city centre and Dublin Airport. Agent: Ganly Walters (01) 662 3255
