Celebrity Tipping Point, TV3, 7pm The quiz returns for a new series of its star-studded edition, as three new famous faces face off against the monolithic machine, all in the name of winning big money for charity. Host Ben Shephard is there as always, asking the celebrities a number of tricky general knowledge questions. If they get them right, they take control of the arcade machine, dropping counters that they hope will knock out tokens worth cash.
WEATHER WATCHING
Horizon: The Wildest Weather in the Universe, BBC2, 8pm A special look skywards at the work being carried out by scientists speculating about what weather could be like on other planets. What was once only theory is fast becoming reality, with these experts pushing research where no man has gone before, sending new spacecrafts to explore the solar system’s furthest reaches, coming across supersonic winds, extreme temperatures, and bizarre forms of rain.
GAZING OUT TO SEA
Wild West — America’s Great Frontier, BBC2, 9pm James Norton narrates the final part of the documentary looking at the coastline that connects the Wild West with the world beyond, taking in all sorts of life, from the blue whale to a fish that only comes ashore during a full moon.
