MONDAY RUN WILD, RUN FREE (1969) More4, 11.05am

Drama, starring John Mills, Gordon Jackson and Sylvia Syms. A young boy who has been mute most of his life spends his time exploring the English countrysid­e he and his family call home. One day he comes across a wild white horse, and they begin to bond. He also gets to know a retired army colonel and a young girl his age, who help him come out of his shell.

BLOOD WORK (2002) TG4, 9.30pm

Clint Eastwood directs and stars in this action thriller. A heart transplant puts FBI profiler Terry McCaleb on the shelf, but he is then hired by the sister of the woman whose heart he was given to investigat­e the woman’s death. He soon discovers that the seemingly random robbery she died in may have been staged by a serial killer that he had chased for years while working for the bureau. Jeff Daniels and Anjelica Huston also star.

SWAT FIREFIGHT (2011) 3e, 11pm

Action, starring Gabriel Macht, Robert Patrick and Carly Pope. SWAT veteran Paul Cutler is sent to Detroit to help train the city’s own tactical team. However, the death of a hostage during an assignment leads to retaliatio­n from the victim’s boyfriend, who uses his position as a highly-trained government agent to act out his revenge on Cutler and his new team.

TUESDAY PATTON (1970) More4, 9.50am

Drama, starring George C Scott, Karl Malden and Stephen Young. The true story of US General George S Patton, a man known for his success as a tank commander during the Second World War. Although his successes on the battlefiel­d became legendary, his gung-ho attitude and maverick ways found him at odds with fellow officers, including Britain’s Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery, which lead to major setbacks.

ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES (1993) E4, 8pm

Comedy sequel, starring Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia and Christophe­r Lloyd. The creepy family return for more antics. As the family adjust to having a new baby in the house, they hire a nanny who shows a keen interest in Uncle Fester. The two soon get married, but Wednesday and Pugsley suspect there is more to her than meets the eye, and they soon come to the realisatio­n that she has her focus on Fester’s fortune.

THE CRY OF THE OWL (2009) BBC1, 12.50am

Drama, starring Paddy Considine, Julia Stiles and Karl Pruner. As life in the big city gets too much for a recently divorced troubled young man, he moves to a small town where he becomes infatuated with a beautiful neighbour. After her boyfriend goes missing, he becomes the prime suspect, but there is more to the case than there initially seems.

WEDNESDAY BLACK HAWK DOWN (2001) 3e, 10pm

Ridley Scott’s intense drama, starring Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor and Tom Sizemore. The US military sends a team to extract two lieutenant­s of a warlord in the heart of Somalia during a heated civil war in 1993. However, two of the team’s Black Hawk helicopter­s are shot down, turning the mission completely on its head. The survivors are panicked, stranded and desperate to fight their way out and back to safety. Eric Bana and William Fichtner also star.

STARTER FOR 10 (2006) BBC4, 10pm

Comedy, set in 1985, starring James McAvoy, Alice Eve and Rebecca Hall. Brian Jackson comes from a working class background, but finds himself with a scholarshi­p to the University of Bristol. While there, he enrols in the team for University Challenge, a show he has loved his whole life. As the group prepare for the competitio­n, he falls for a beautiful girl on his team, but this leads to trouble.

THE WAY BACK (2010) Channel 4, 1.45am

Adventure, starring Jim Sturgess, Ed Harris and Colin Farrell. A group of prisoners, desperate to escape a Siberian gulag in 1940, make a break for India, a trip that would see them travel 4,000 miles. Along the way, the group grows in size and they must contest with the elements as well as each other.

THURSDAY FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS (1943) More4, 10.35am

Drama, based on the novel by Ernest Hemingway, starring Gary Cooper, Ingrid Bergman and Akim Tamiroff. During the Spanish Civil War, a man who has sided with the leftist Republican forces is given a high-risk assignment up in the mountains. Tasked with blowing up a bridge, he and his team — which includes a young woman — must wait for the perfect moment to set off the explosion.

SALT (2010) E4, 9pm

Action, starring Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Highly renowned CIA agent Evelyn Salt finds her world turned upside down when, out of the blue, a Russian spy informs the agency that Salt is planning to assassinat­e the President of Russia during a political visit to the US. Looking to get to the bottom of things, she goes on the run, making it seem to them that she has turned rogue on the organisati­on. However, her actions only make her guilt seem more certain to the CIA who want her taken down before it’s too late.

FOUR CHRISTMASE­S (2008) Film4, 9pm

Comedy, starring Reese Witherspoo­n, Vince Vaughn and Mary Steenburge­n. Brad and Kate are happy living their lives together, without being tied down by marriage or children. For Christmas, they plan to go on holiday to Fiji. However, after a thick fog grounds their flight, circumstan­ces lead to them having to spend time with their divorced parents, having to visit all four of them in one day, which pushes their relationsh­ip to its limits.

FRIDAY AVATAR (2009) E4, 8pm

James Cameron’s sci-fi adventure, starring Sam Worthingto­n, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver. An exmarine is given the chance of a lifetime when he is offered his deceased brother’s place as part of a military experiment on a far-off world. On Pandora, he uses his avatar body to appear as a Na’vi, the alien species who are preventing the military from drilling for a rare material. Although his mission is to infiltrate their tribe and convince them to move on, he soon grows attached to the creatures, to the outrage of the powers in charge.

THE SWEENEY (2012) More4, 9pm

Action, modern interpreta­tion of the classic 1970s series, starring Ray Winstone, Ben Drew and Hayley Atwell. DI Jack Regan heads a police task force who take down violent criminals. Although his methods are seen as extreme, he gets the job done. However, after the arrest of a killer gang of bank robbers goes fatally wrong, Regan is stripped of his position and it is up to him and his team to pull him back in and put an end to the case once and for all.

PAYBACK (1999) TV3, 11.45pm

Action, starring Mel Gibson, Gregg Henry and Maria Bello. Criminal Porter is double-crossed by both his partner in crime and his wife, and sets out for revenge, seeking the money the two stole from him. Unfortunat­ely, it’s now in the hands of a crime syndicate.

UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS (2009) Channel 4, 12.25am

Action horror, starring Rhona Mitra, Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy. Set 1,000 years before the events of the franchise’s previous offerings, the vampire race has enslaved werewolves to have them carry out their bidding. Amid this, lycan Lucian is having a secret love affair with Sonja, the daughter of Victor, who leads the vampire elite. To save his people and their love, he decides that he must orchestrat­e an uprising.

SATURDAY NOW YOU SEE ME (2013) Channel 4, 9pm

Drama, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and Mark Ruffalo. Four talented magicians are brought together to form a team and put on a grand stage performanc­e. However, they use their elaborate shows to pull off heists, and an FBI agent tries to stop them. Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine also star.

NO GOOD DEED (2014) RTE2, 9.20pm

Thriller, starring Taraji P Henson, Idris Elba and Leslie Bibb. The victim of a car accident appears at a woman’s door, and she welcomes him in. Although she does not realise right away, the man is actually a recently escaped convict, and she is soon fighting for survival in an attempt to save the lives of herself and her kids.
