Ex-TV3 director Ennis is an Avid fan of technology
TV3’S new look was unveiled to media and agencies last week — and a couple of people in the room remembered the station’s first incarnation all too well.
Pat Kiely, now managing director of the expanding group, was one. Another was Andrew Hanlon, who finishes up at the station on Wednesday and was on board even before the station went on air in 1998.
Another founder member has done very well of late. Peter Ennis, one-time director of technology and digital at TV3, was recently promoted to senior vice-president at multimedia company, Avid.
He is in charge of global services delivery and customer support, taking responsibility for managing the company’s professional services, customer care and training activities worldwide. His other stints include executive director of technology and broadcasting at Al Jazeera Media Network in Qatar.
It appears that the lessons he learned in the early days of TV3, when it was on a shoestring budget, haven’t been lost,
“Having been a customer myself for many years, I understand only too well the increasingly dynamic nature of our industry,” he said. “I will be laser-focused to ensure that we enable our valued customers to deliver compelling content and drive efficiency and value.”
THE gift card market has been hotting up lately, with PerfectIncentive the latest business to try and capitalise on last year’s decision to raise the tax-free gift voucher benefit to €500.
Ten years ago, the company brought the Mastercard pre-paid gift cards to the likes of Dundrum Town Centre and the Pavilions in Swords. In more recent years it has targeted the corporate market.
Last month, the company launched a website aimed at SMEs spending up to €5,000 in total on cards. Natasha Brasier, business development manager with PerfectIncentive, told me that the cards have the advantages of being usable online, as well as abroad.
For any bosses feeling a last-minute surge in Christmas spirit, orders will still be taken up until the middle of next week.
