Robbie and Claudine in a different galaxy at Luna

-

SHOOT for the moon, I always say. And even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars. So it proved — indeed as it invariably proves — for Irish football phenomenon Robbie Keane.

He took his beautiful wife Claudine to Luna restaurant last week. The hipsters’ haunt on Drury Street (a second home to Bono and his long-suffering Simon Carmody Community) played a very chic host to Robbie, Claudine and her mother Joan, and Claudine’s younger brother Ronan Palmer and girlfriend Zoe.

The occasion (not that Robbie, who is generally keen, particularly needs an occasion to enjoy life) was to celebrate lovely Claudine’s birthday. It would have been rude of me to ask a lady her age.

Even a lady who was a contestant in Miss Ireland in 2004 when I was one of the judges alongside pop star Samantha Mumba, rugby international Victor Costello, Yvonne Keating and supermodel Caitriona Balfe. I remember that night in City West well.

At one point, I asked Miss VIP Roz Lipsett from the stage: ‘If Saddam Hussein gets the death penalty, should David Beckham or Robbie Keane take it?’ After the show in City West that night, Claudine and Robbie were in great form, dancing on the stage with Kerry McFadden and Bryan McFadden, Ms Mumba, Yvonne and Ronan Keating. You’d think Claudine had in fact won the Miss Ireland pageant.

But back to the birthday party last Thursday night.

Robbie and Claudine moved their moveable feast from Luna at 11pm to 37 on Dawson Street, where they enjoyed drinks in the establishment’s VIP boozer in the back, The Whiskey Bar, until late.

Robbie and the Birthday Girl returned to their home (their actual second home after their home in Los Angeles) in Abington in Malahide.
