Comedy, starring Jack Black. Dewey Finn is a down-on-hisluck rocker who has just been ejected from his band. To make some money he steals his friend’s identity and takes a job teaching at a posh school. While there he finds out that the kids in his class have a lot of musical talent, and teaches them to rock so they can win a battle of the bands.
THOR (2011) Channel 4, 6.50pm
Kenneth Branagh’s superhero action, starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman. Cocky Norse god Thor is exiled from his kingdom, Asgard, after he angers his father Odin. On Earth he must prove that he is worthy to carry the hammer and source of his power, something his crooked brother Loki will do anything to ensure doesn’t happen. Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgard and Idris Elba also feature.
THE HANGOVER 2 (2011) TV3, 9pm
Comedy, starring Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms. Two years after the infamous bachelor party in Vegas the Wolfpack are back in action, this time taking their antics to Thailand for Stu’s wedding. However, it doesn’t take long for mishaps and misunderstandings to land them in trouble again, leaving the lads in hot water right before the big day. Ken Jeong and Paul Giamatti also star.
MONDAY PREDESTINATION (2014) Film4, 9pm
Sci-fi drama, starring Ethan Hawke. The Barkeep is a
Temporal Agent, who is sent through time in order to ensure his own future remains intact. However, on his final mission, he is sent after the one criminal who has eluded him his entire career, resulting in his timeline starting to unravel. Sarah Snook and Noah Taylor also star.
PATRIOT GAMES (1992) ITV4, 9pm
Action, starring Harrison Ford and Sean Bean. Former CIA analyst Jack Ryan interrupts a terrorist attack at Buckingham Palace, but after his actions lead to the death of one of the attackers, the other swears he will take his revenge on Ryan. This leads to a deadly game of cat and mouse. Anne Archer and Samuel L Jackson also star.
SOURCE CODE (2011) Film4, 10.55pm
Duncan Jones’s sci-fi drama, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan. Soldier Colter Stevens is part of a special unit that investigates serious crimes by travelling back in time to the incident and transferring his consciousness into a person’s body for eight minutes at a time. He is sent in to investigate the bombing of a train, but gets sidetracked when he develops a connection with one of the passengers, and he attempts to change her fate to save her. Vera Farmiga also features.
TUESDAY A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD (2013) Film4, 9pm
Action sequel, starring Bruce Willis and Jai Courtney. Grizzled veteran John McClane travels to Russia to meet his son, unaware that he is now a highly-trained CIA operative. The pair combine and race through the country’s criminal underworld to stop a maniac holding the world to ransom with nuclear weapons. Sebastian Koch and Mary Elizabeth Winstead also star.
IN THE LINE OF FIRE (1993) Sky1, 9pm
Wolfgang Petersen’s thriller, starring Clint Eastwood, John Malkovich and Rene Russo. Still living with the regret that he could not save President Kennedy back in the 1960s, secret service agent Frank Horrigan becomes entangled in a plot to kill the current commander in chief, as he attempts to stop the hitman who has him in his sights. Dylan McDermott also features.
METALLICA THROUGH THE NEVER (2013) Film4, 1.05am
Concert-orientated drama, starring Dane DeHaan, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo. Trip is a roadie for heavy metal titans Metallica, and while they set up for their next electric show, he is sent on an urgent mission. What follows for him is a descent into mayhem and anarchy, but as the world outside the venue goes to hell, the band tear on through some of their biggest hits, including Fuel, Creeping Death and One.
WEDNESDAY DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (2014) RTE2, 9pm
Sci-fi action, starring Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke and Gary Oldman. As humankind continues to deteriorate after the rise of super-intelligent apes and the spread of a deadly virus, a number of survivors attempt to make peace with the ape leader, Caesar. While he is uncertain, his second-incommand looks to wipe the last of the humans out for good.

Renny Harlin’s action adventure, starring Sylvester Stallone, John Lithgow and Michael Rooker. Mountain rescue expert Gabe Walker, still reeling after someone under his care died a year before, is sent to help a group of people stranded on an isolated mountain range. Little does he know that they are actually violent criminals, who will do anything to protect the money they just stole.
THE RUM DIARY (2011) Channel 4, 1.55am
Drama, based on the book by Hunter S Thompson, starring Johnny Depp, Giovanni Ribisi and Aaron Eckhart. Alcoholic journalist Paul Kemp is offered a job with a paper in Puerto Rico where, against the backdrop of a steadily deteriorating political situation, he is made aware of a dodgy land deal, which he decides he must expose. Amber Heard and Richard Jenkins also star.
THURSDAY THE MONUMENTS MEN (2014) Film4, 9pm
George Clooney directs and stars in this Second World War drama, with Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman and Cate Blanchett also among the cast. At the conclusion of the war Frank Stokes is sent with a hand-picked team to rescue the priceless masterpieces of art that the Nazis seized during their reign of terror.
FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF (1986) 3e, 9pm
John Hughes’s comedy, starring Matthew Broderick. High school student Ferris Bueller uses an elaborate con to get the day off school, which he uses to head to Chicago to enjoy the day in the big city. However, his principal is unconvinced by his absence, and sets out to prove he is faking it.
GOOD WILL HUNTING (1997)
Film4, 11.20pm Gus Van Sant’s Oscarwinning drama, starring Robin Williams, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Underachieving janitor Will Hunting comes to the attention of the maths professors at the university where he works after he solves a complex equation. As the lecturers try to get him to focus his talents, his attention is diverted by beautiful student Skylar. Stellan Skarsgard, Minnie Driver and Casey Affleck also star.
FRIDAY MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL (2011) TV3, 9pm
Director Brad Bird’s entry into the action-packed franchise, starring Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg. Ethan Hunt and his team are forced underground after they are framed for a bombing at the Kremlin. Now they have to do whatever it takes to track down the elusive arms dealer behind the attack to clear their names. Paula Patton also stars.

Sci-fi comedy, starring John Boyega, Jodie Whittaker and Nick Frost. A gang of tough kids living in London come under attack from aggressive alien creatures after they land on Earth near their apartment complex. Now they must protect themselves, an unlucky nurse and their drug dealer from harm as they defend their turf from the invaders.

Horror, starring Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell and Imogen Poots. A teenager becomes convinced that his mysterious new neighbour, Jerry, is actually a vampire after a series of deaths and disappearances in the area since his arrival. David Tennant and Toni Collette also star.

Animation, with the voice of Edward Asner. A pensioner sets off on an adventure to South America by strapping thousands of balloons to his house, unaware that eager young scout Russell is tagging along for the ride.
