Beyonce and Jay Z cast their eye over Irishman’s $135m LA home
LA-based developer and real-estate broker Tyrone McKillen is said to be weighing up a $120m offer from Beyonce and husband Jay Z for a high-end mansion in the city’s exclusive Bel Air neighbourhood.
While Tyrone, a son of the Belfast-born property investor Paddy McKillen, has listed the 30,000 sq ft property for sale with a $135m price tag, US property magazine The Real Deal reports that even if Beyonce’s lower offer is accepted, it would shatter the record for the most expensive price per square foot in Los Angeles realestate history.
The house at 454 Cuesta Way is located in Bel Air’s most exclusive area of East Gate. Designed by Irish architect Paul McClean, the house, which is nearing completion, has eightbedrooms, 11 bathrooms, four pools, a basketball court, a recording studio, a spa, staff quarters and limestone floors.
Describing the property to Realtor.com last week, real-estate agent Dolly Lenz said: “It’s open and airy with indoor-outdoor living where you push a button and all the huge, heavy doors fall into the walls seamlessly, as if they were never there, opening up to the gardens and the pools.”
The Real Deal, meanwhile, describes Tyrone McKillen as a “real-estate mogul in the making” and a “busy guy who wears two hats”.
Quite apart from his career as a property developer, Tyrone McKillen is one of a team of brokers of Hilton & Hyland, the leading LA real-estate agents and luxury homes specialists. 454 Cuesta Way is listed for sale through Hilton & Hyland, with McKillen as the selling agent.
Ranked 14th on TRD’s latest ranking of LA’s leading luxury real-estate agents, Tyrone McKillen is no stranger to selling homes to the city’s celebrity set. In 2015, he and colleague Drew Fenton secured the sale of a property on Birds Street to Calvin Klein for $25m. The property was built by one of McKillen’s brothers, Dean.
