SUNDAY

Ghostbuste­rs 2 (1989) Channel 4, 2.30pm Comedy sequel, starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. The team have had to put their ghostbusti­ng ways on hold while they deal with lawsuits and court orders that have been thrown at them. However, when Dana comes across an evil spirit that is after her newborn baby, and sinister ghosts start plaguing New York City again, it’s up to the foursome to do what they do best. Sigourney Weaver also stars.

the terminal (2004) BBC2, 5.55pm Steven Spielberg’s drama, starring Tom Hanks. Victor Novarski travels to America just as a coup breaks out in his country. When he arrives at JFK airport, he finds out that due to the subsequent political uncertaint­y, his paperwork is no longer valid for travel, leaving him stranded within the airport until the situation calms down. During his time there he makes the airport his home, getting to know the staff who work there.

Captain america: the First avenger (2011) Channel 4, 8pm Comic book action, starring Chris Evans and Hugo Weaving. Plucky Steve Rogers signs up to the army after America enters the Second World War. Because of his strong will he is selected to be a part of a top secret project that gives him enhanced strength and abilities. He and his team take the fight to the front line, as a secretive Nazi division known as Hydra try to unlock the potential of a mythical weapon that could change the course of the war.

MONDAY

master and Commander: the Far side oF the World (2003) Film4, 6.20pm Drama, starring Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany. Captain Jack Aubrey takes charge of the crew of his ship during the Napoleonic Wars. As they hunt for an elusive French war vessel, they discover that they are outgunned and overpowere­d, but the captain will do whatever it takes and pushes his men to the limits to complete his orders.

UNKNOWN (2011) Film4, 9pm Action, starring Liam Neeson and Diane Kruger. A biochemist awakes from a coma to discover that he is missing gaps in his memory, and that someone has completely stolen his identity. Now, with the help of a woman he doesn’t know he has to piece together what happened, and why no one — even his wife — has no idea about who he is. horrible bosses (2011) TG4, 9.30pm Comedy, starring Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis. Best friends Nick, Dale and Kurt come to the realisatio­n that they all hate their abusive bosses. One night they are drunkenly discussing their situation when things escalate and they decide that they should kill off their superiors. Before they know it they have hired a profession­al to help them do it, but things go south very quickly. Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell also star as the bosses from hell.

TUESDAY

star trek (2009) Film4, 9pm JJ Abrams’s sci-fi reboot, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana. Reckless James Kirk is pushed by a friend of his father’s to become a Starfleet recruit, where he becomes part of the crew of the USS Enterprise. They find themselves in over their heads when they come face-to-face with an unstable Vulcan on the hunt for vengeance, but must now band together if they are to stop him.

the bounty hunter (2010) 3e, 9pm Comedy, with Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler. Bounty hunter Milo finds himself down on his luck, but is more than happy to take his next mission: tracking down his bail-jumping journalist ex-wife. As he is taking her in to collect his money, he finds out that she is investigat­ing a murder cover-up, and they both have to go on the run if they are to solve her case and return their lives to normality. the WatCh (2012) Film4, 11.25pm Comedy, starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade. Four men living in suburbia band together to start a neighbourh­ood watch group after a local man is murdered. They are shocked to learn that what killed him was actually an alien, and that they are the Earth’s only hope against an impending invasion.

WEDNESDAY

the expendable­s (2010) ITV2, 9pm Action, starring Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham. Barney Ross and his team of highly-trained mercenarie­s are hired to travel to South America to take down a corrupt military government with connection­s to a rogue CIA agent. Jet Li and Dolph Lundgren also star.

the plaCe beyond the pines (2013) RTE1, 9.35pm Drama, starring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes. Stuntman Luke seeks to make ends meet to provide for his partner Romina and their newborn baby. To do so he takes to a life of crime, which brings him to the attention of ambitious cop Avery Cross, who is looking to rise through the ranks of a department overrun with corruption.

the italian Job (2003) 3e, 10pm Action, starring Mark Wahlberg and Edward Norton. Charlie is doublecros­sed by his partner during a heist in Italy. Left for dead, he sets out to plan the ultimate revenge plot, assembling a team who will help him steal the money back off his treacherou­s former team member.

THURSDAY

the hangover part ii (2011) 3e, 9pm Comedy sequel, starring Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianak­is and Ed Helms. The Wolfpack is back, and this time are in Thailand for Stu’s wedding. However, their plans for a quiet night before the big day are ruined when they wake up with no memory of what happened, and with a missing soon-to-be brother-in-law.

Unforgiven (1992) ITV4, 9pm Oscar-winning western, starring Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman. A bounty is placed on a gang of cowboys who mutilate a woman in the quiet town of Big Whisky. This brings an old gunslinger out of retirement, as he teams with his

old partner one more time.

aliens (1986) Film4, 11.25pm James Cameron’s sci-fi horror sequel, starring Sigourney Weaver. Ripley is woken from a cryogenic sleep 57 years after her ship was attacked by an alien. She learns that the planet where they encountere­d the alien was subsequent­ly colonised, but contact has been lost with the miners. On return to the planet, with marines, Ripley is forced to relive past nightmares when they are attacked by a large hive of the extraterre­strial creatures.

FRIDAY

man on a ledge (2012) TV3, 9pm Action, starring Sam Worthingto­n and Elizabeth Banks. An ex-con climbs onto the edge of a high Manhattan rooftop, leading a police psychologi­st to try and talk him down. Meanwhile, his cohorts are using his distractio­n to pull off a massive heist at a bank across the street. Anthony Mackie and Jamie Bell also star.

the lake house (2006) RTE2, 9.30pm Drama, starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. A lonely doctor moves into an isolated lakeside house where she starts receiving letters from the previous owner. However, she comes to learn that their back and forth notes are travelling through time, and she must unravel the mystery to unite them.

insidious: Chapter 2 (2013) Channel 4, 12.10am James Wan’s horror sequel, starring Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne. The Lambert family think they have escaped the supernatur­al creatures that have been haunting them, but when they move back to wife Renai’s old family home, a new spirit begins to torment them.

SATURDAY

toy story (1995) RTE1, 6.30pm Pixar’s animated classic, with the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. Young Andy’s toy collection secretly comes to life when no one is looking. Their leader, cowboy Woody, is put out when a new toy, spaceman Buzz Lightyear, becomes Andy’s favourite, but Woody’s attempt to get Buzz out of the picture sends them both on an adventure where they have to unite if they are to get back home.

made in america (1993) TG4, 9.50pm Comedy, with Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson. A black woman who never knew her father asks her mother about him, only to find out that she was born from a sperm donor. After she attempts to track him down, she is shocked to find out that he is actually a brash, Caucasian man. Will Smith and Nia Long also star.
