Actor Patrick joins the ‘Goldin circle’ with Helen
It’s official. Patrick Bergin has joined the “Goldin circle”. The charismatic Irish movie star (Sleeping with The Enemy, Patriot Games, Mountains of the Moon and more recently, TV3’s Red Rock) is seeing the very beautiful Helen Goldin. They were spotted at Bagots Hutton on Ormond Quay last Saturday night. Patrick was clearly so happy with his Helen of Mitchelstown that he got up and sang. Doubtless he could see the mountains of the moon sparkling in her green eyes. Later that evening, Patrick and Helen (whose great-grandmother was Lady Catherine Louisa Moore Morgan) shared some plates in Red Bank on Duke Street. The ultra-glamorous and dynamic duo have been enjoying each other’s company and having fun together now for over four months.
They were also at the recent CARI Summer Lunch — organised, as ever, with great aplomb by Helen’s VBF Miriam Ahern — at the Shelbourne hotel. There have also been regular sightings of Helen and Patrick in the Sugar Club on Leeson Street and the aforesaid Red Bank restaurant.
“Helen has been on her own for almost 10 years since she lost her soulmate Paul,” a friend of Helen’s told me in reference to famous hypnotist Paul Goldin who passed away in 2008. “She is very social but no one has entered her life until Mr Bergin came along. It is romantic. Dating is something teenagers do. But they are definitely smitten with each other.”
Hypnotised, even.
