Bullet journals to help you think big

- Claire O’Mahony

The timeless favourite

FANS of the Moleskine brand are in their legions — Ernest Hemingway was said to be a fan — and this pocket-sized notebook is dotted, making it ideal for note-taking, list making, sketching and doodling. There are 192 acid-free pages, with a ribbon bookmark and elastic enclosure to keep everything secured. Moleskine Soft Cover Underwater Blue Pocket Dotted Notebook, €10.20, amazon.co.uk

The hardworking hero

From German makers Leuchtturm, this is all you could desire from a bullet journal — it even comes with a bullet journal guide. There are three ribbon markers and 240 acid-free, ink-proof pages. Thread-bound, meaning it’s durable, the A5 size sees it easily fitting into a briefcase, while an expandable back pocket keeps receipts and business cards safe. Leuchtturm1917 Bullet Journal Edition, €21, shop.designist.ie

The cult classic

Incredible paper quality is the hallmark of Rhodia. The French brand, known for its stylish orange and black aesthetics, was founded in 1934 and this Rhodia A5 has the standard ribbon, elastic enclosure and expandable back pocket. But it’s the 160 dot pages of brushed vellum paper, with a soft leatherette cover, that make it a dream. Rhodiarama Softback Notebook, €19.14; bureaudirect.co.uk

The tool for thinkers

THE philosophy of the Baron Fig brand, which was founded through Kickstarter, is simplicity, usefulness and community. Its Confidant notebook comes in three sizes, in either blank, ruled or dot grid, and has an attractive grey, clothwrapped cover. Its acid-free fine-grain paper — 192 pages — makes it longlasting and it’s equally good for sketching as for writing. Baron Fig Confidant, €15.80; baronfig.com
