-

÷ FINGAL-BASED flower growers Rush Bulbs and Flowers has reached a deal with Aldi Ireland that will see 110,000 Irish-grown sunflowers delivered fresh to Aldi stores nationwide over the next six weeks.

Aldi’s partnership with the Rush-based family-run business is part of a nationwide initiative to promote locally-sourced fresh flowers in Aldi stores.

Aldi is now Ireland’s leading retailer for fresh-cut flowers with almost one in four (23pc) of all flowers sold in Ireland last year sold in Aldi stores. Rush Bulbs and Flowers has partnered with Aldi Ireland since 2011.

As well as sunflowers, the company also supplies Aldi Ireland with tulips, lilies and gladioli. Aldi purchased over 3.4 million sunflower stems from the company this year.
