Self-care corner: Can you hear me?

Listening is an act of self-care, because you are in the present moment, serving both yourself and the person you are talking to. There is nothing more annoying than having a conversati­on with someone who is distracted. The saying, ‘You have two ears and one mouth’ rings true, as most of us tend to talk too much (myself included). You can hone your ability to listen by consciousl­y setting an intention to be a better listener. During a conversati­on, if you drift, just bring yourself back again, just as you would when practising mindfulnes­s. Like mindfulnes­s, listening is a practice — but, as we all know, practice pays off.
