LAST Sunday Magnus Carlsen won the Isle of Man Masters with 7.5 points out of 9. Vishy Anand and Hikaru Nakamura tied for second with 7 points each.
Carlsen gained 11.4 rating points, bringing his current rating to 2837 — and today we will examine one of his victories from that tournament.
Also last weekend the inaugural St Andrew’s Chess Classic event took place in Dublin. It was a huge success, with over 100 players competing in three sections and over 80 participants in the Funday Sunday tournament. English GM Matthew Turner and FM Colm Daly shared victory in the Masters tournament with 4.5 points out of 6 each.
