Triona’s top trends

-

While I’m not a fan of red tones in my own locks — high-shine black has always been my signature look — I love the warmer shades I’ve seen modelled by a range of celebs. ‘Honey’, ‘spiced’ and ‘fiery’ are our mots de la saison when it comes to hair colour. What is it about this time of year? As soon as there are scarves swaying on the streets and demands for pumpkin-spice lattes in cafes, we suddenly fall in love with golds, reds and chocolate browns — forgetting the pastel craze of the summer and the iced-blonde thrill in spring. No matter what your shade is right now, you can get in on this trend. Blondes can opt for honey tones, which will lift a range of skin tones — add a touch of golden bronzer and you’ll own it. Copper and paprika shades are there, too. Think along the lines of Julianne Moore or Jessica Chastain — feck it, think Jessica Rabbit if you like; all are excellent sources of inspo. For darker locks, dip into the world of chocolate, or get some burgundy highlights. L’Oreal Paris Preference Infinia has great options. The tangerine-tastic shade ‘Mango’ or the molten brown ‘Brooklyn’ are top of my colour crushes here. Tip: Get colour-conscious haircare to go with your new locks. Reds tend to fade fast, and quickly lose their vibrancy, so pick up Joico’s Colour Infuse Red Shampoo, above, €14.50 and Conditioner, €16.50, or try the John Frieda Radiant Red Colour Protecting Vibrancy Boosting Shampoo, right, €7.99.
