Cairn customers left frustrated over wait to move into their new homes
BUYERS at one of Cairn Homes’ flagship developments have been left frustrated at the wait that they face to move in. The Sunday Independent understands that buyers who had been expecting to be able to move in shortly have now been told that it could be the end of March before they can take up residency in their new homes.
The development in question is Marianella at Rathgar in south Dublin, which consists of oneto four-bed apartments and three- and five-bed houses.
Cairn said in a statement that the development was “a complex build with a high-quality finish and Cairn is committed to delivering to the highest standard.
“The apartments in blocks A and B are currently in the process of being finished, with block A apartments snagging virtually complete.
“In sequence, customers who have bought in block A will take occupancy between next week and the end of December and those who have bought in block B will take occupancy between the start of January and the end of March.”
It added: “Cairn is conscious of ensuring that each apartment is fully ready for occupancy before transferring to each new owner.”
The development is located at ground that was formerly owned by the Redemptorist community at Orwell Road in Rathgar.
The company is ramping up home sales, with a forward pipeline of €188m as of late September.
“We’re currently building on nine sites, which will deliver 3,250 new homes. We’re actively selling on seven sites, soon to be eight,” chief executive Michael Stanley said in September.
The company fended off competition to secure land being sold by RTE at its Montrose complex for €107.5m.
