Busi­ness­man hon­oured with cov­eted award

HOTE­LIER and re­tailer Luke Mo­ri­arty was pre­sented with the cov­eted JC Sav­age Fin­gal Busi­ness Per­son of the Year Award at a spe­cial cer­e­mony last Fri­day night.

He was pre­sented with the award in recog­ni­tion of the sig­nif­i­cant ben­e­fit his busi­ness ac­tiv­ity brings to em­ploy­ees, cus­tomers, sup­pli­ers and the com­mu­nity in the Dublin Fin­gal area. Mr Mo­ri­arty, who is orig­i­nally from Co Kerry, said he was de­lighted to claim the hon­our, es­pe­cially con­sid­er­ing the award is named af­ter a fig­ure who was leg­endary in the in­de­pen­dent gro­cery sec­tor. Mr Mo­ri­arty is the man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of a busi­ness founded 30 years ago that com­prises three Su­per Valu stores and two four-star ho­tels.

“Mo­ri­arty Group is a team ef­fort and ev­ery­thing achieved over the past 30 years has been thanks to a ded­i­cated team of peo­ple around me,” he said.

The prize, pre­sented dur­ing the Fin­gal Dublin Busi­ness Ex­cel­lence and Cor­po­rate Re­spon­si­bil­ity Awards, is spon­sored by Dublin Air­port and recog­nises Mr Mo­ri­arty’s con­tri­bu­tion to Tidy Towns, GAA, and the lo­cal com­mu­nity.
