Triona’s top trends

Taking inspiration from Elie Saab’s autumn/winter ’17 runway beauty, this week I’m crazy for darkened eyes, awash with metallic shimmer and a dab of glitter. A brush of the smoky colour is applied to the lid, then blended up over the crease, with the same product pulled under the eye, quite low — go beyond the tips of the bottom lashes. Deep grey or gunmetal tones work perfectly for this look. Mac Extra Dimension Eye Shadow in Dark Dare, above, €21, is ideal, as it’s a rich grey with a multi-tonal metallic shine. This creates a blended area of intense colour, but the eye is not overwhelmed with a flat black. The shadow should be complimented with a touch of charcoal eye pencil applied to the waterline and into the corners — we’re trying to create drama here, remember! The finishing touches include a lick of black mascara and a small sprinkling of glitter. The glitter is not absolutely necessary, as the shadow has plenty of shine, but for that little something extra, go for it. Fuschia Eye Shimmer in Pewter, below, €14.50, works wonderfully. Using your pinky finger, dab a touch of it onto the lid and under the corner of the eye. Forget pink, it’s glitter that makes the boys wink! Tip: Leave your concealer and powder until after you have completed this eye make-up, as you may have to do a bit of tidying up after the glitter application!
